Ballot back-up in Ballard

A KOMO staff member was caught up in traffic trying to get through to the Ballard drop box on 22nd Ave. Tuesday night.

This pic was taken at about 5:45 p.m. Ballots need to be in by 8!

Isn't that street always "backed up" through rush hour?

and I was trying to cross that street on a crutch and barely made it out of there alive, people were in such a hurry they didn't care who was in the crosswalk!

I voted at the site shown around 6:45 pm. The area surrounding the drop box (in the community center next to the library, across from Bartell's) was quite a bit more busy than usual.  The problem was that every crosswalk had pedestrians crossing non stop so the automobile traffic got quite backed up on the surface streets, including Market Street.  A traffic cop or two would have been a help.

lI ove the new library and community service center but this is NOT a good location for balloting.   Since this ballot location serves all of North Seattle, they should relocate to someplace with better access, someplace that isn't already a busy traffic area.  Even better, we should open a few more ballot boxes.  I think the closure of ALL the precinct voting sites was too much of a cut.
