17-year-old shoots friend in garage on 28th after drinking
A 17-year-old boy was arrested early Saturday after shooting a friend following a drinking binge in his garage near 28th and Loyal Way.
Seattle police said the two were drinking alcohol in a garage at the teen's residence on the 8000 block of 28th Avenue NW a little after midnight when, for reasons unknown at this point, the boy brought out a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol. He then shot his friend in the leg.
Both the victim and the suspect told police the shooting was accidental. But during questioning from officers, the suspect took off and hid the gun. When he was caught, he wouldn't say where the gun was. Later, he said he couldn't remember where he put the gun.
The teen was taken to the King County Youth Service Center for investigation of gun charges and being a minor in possession of alcohol. The condition of the friend is not known.
